Where I live

While Buffalo, NY doesn't have po-boys, and things like crawfish and shrimp can end up costing you a week's salary, they do have great Italian food, and more pizza places than you can shake a stick at (virtually no Pizza Huts, Dominos, etc though). However, the one thing that probably sets it apart the most from south Louisiana is the weather. No hurricanes, but lots of snow, and it looks like this winter is going to be hard. Here we are, not even mid way thru October, and it has been snowing all day. Last winter, the final snowfall wasn't until April 20th. I'm looking at 6 months of shoveling my driveway, and freezing my feet off when I step in a cold icy puddle that Connor has left behind when he comes in from playing.

LOL! I think I'll go for a swim after dinner. Being a southern gal, I didn't see my first real snow until I went home with my college roommate at age 19!

Prior to moving up here, I had seen snow three previous times. Add it all up, and maybe there was 6 inches on the ground (and one of those times was a Christmas trip to Penticton, BC, Canada). At the rate it's coming down right now, we'll have more than 6 inches before the nights thru. I could uncover the hot tub and go for a 'swim', but getting out wouldn't be fun. 8)

My boss calls me and tells me not to try to come into work today. Like the thought even crossed my mind.

We just got our first "cold" snap of the season today as well. It's 55 outside right and threatening rain (which is saying a lot, because rain's been hard to come by for some time now). Weatherman says it won't get much beyond 70 today.

My kids are jealous, John. They've never seen snow and your pictures look like Wonderland to them. They have no idea of the shovelling "Mr. John" is doing in that Wonderland.

Enjoy your snow day!

Shane

The snow reminds me of the immortal words of Stan from the original Southpark Christmas episode...

"Dude, that's f**ked up, right there."

John,

My boyfriend is from Rockchester, NY, he's laughing at your pictures. My thinking...if I can't ski in it, I can do without it. (unless it's Christmas, then it can dump on us all day)
