Thank YOU

Post by shane »

Thank you all for coming this weekend. The weather was perfect, the events came off with nary a hitch and everyone seemed to have a great time. I know I did.

I wish I'd had more time to speak to everyone, especially Saturday night, but such is the curse of the host. Even those I did have the chance to talk to, it wasn't long enough.

I'm embaressed that I did not thank the Reunion Committee, Tommy, Sheri, Julie, Tonya, Pat and Leslie and Charlotte, Saturday night for their time and effort in putting this whole thing on. If it wasn't for them, it wouldn't have happened. My apologies for the slight.

Thanks to everyone that came from out of town, from as far away as Germany (thanks, Jan) and Britain (Jerry, Angie) and the Netherlands (Maarten). That's not an easy trip and I think I speak for everyone when I say how much it means to us all that you made it to see us.

Special thanks to John Nichel for setting up this board. It was a godsend for getting out the word and generating and keeping interest.

And thank you all again. Seeing the look on someone's face, hearing the love in their voices when they saw long-lost friends, made all the time and effort worth it. I think we are special a group of people; hold on to that until we all meet again.

Best to you all
Shane

I have to second Shane's thoughts. This was one of the BEST weekends I've had in quite some time, and I'm totally exhausted from it! I just told Shane earlier that I'm already suffering from the "post reunion" blues. The last few weeks for me have been full of sleepless night, & tons of excitement & anticipation. And now, like a lightening bolt, it's all over.

Thanks, Shane, for the kind thoughts to the committee. I share in your sentiment, but without you guiding our way, I'm not sure we would have made it. You are AWESOME -- the man!! And, what a team we are!! I feel as if the committee has become my new family, and I know we will be close for ever more.

To my classmates - WOW!! I've renewed more old friendships over the last few weeks, and it's been truly amazing!! Old pals that were always dear in my heart have re-entered my life, as well as MANY new ones. And, I vow that I will never let that go!!

I heard quite a few comments Saturday night from fellow CHS'ers NOT in our class who said they envied how close our class is, amazed at how bonded we all are, and that our reunions (the 10-year too) blew theirs away! I've even had a few Class of 87 members contact me---they've started planning their reunion for next year, and want to get pointers from us! I think that says a whole lot about us.....

CHEERS to 20 years!!

Julie to your 10/30 2:45 post - all I can say is ditto. This is one of the best weekends I have had in a long time and I too am exhausted from it! Can't wait to catch on some sleep this weekend! And as Meatloaf said in his Bat out of Hell album, "you took the words right out of my mouth" about the post reunion blues - I feel the same way! When I saw what you wrote, I couldn't believe someone else was feeling that way too!

Ya'll, we had a blast....the weekend flew by too quickly though.....I wanted to slow the clocks down on Sat. night.....it was all worth every penny and every hour flying from the UK to see everyone. We fly back to the UK on Sat. morning (4th). If we get to come home again when we move in July I would love to meet up with everyone at the Tap Room or wherever. Dan even had a really good time. Our reunion really does speak volumes about our class....it really is like a big family. I appreciate all of you! I cannot thank the committee enough. You made it happen and it means the world to me as it probably does to everyone else. Can you feel the love???????

Is Chris Cooper on this site? I feel so bad that I did not go hug him....I kept wanting to go over and say HI and the night ended so quickly and then he was gone. If he is not on this site, can anyone who sees him please let him know I saw him and missed him and loved his centipede dance on the dancefloor!

Jan, you made the ultimate sacrifice flying in from Germany for only 48 hrs. You are a stud! I hope it was all worth it.

Jerry, are you already home? If so, I hope your flight home was smooth....can't wait to get together with you, Sarah and Colin in England! We have 8 short months to do it!

Maarten...ready for us in Amsterdam!!???? Hope you had fun at the reunion as well!

So, who made it to the picnic? I saw Eva Guillary in 1 album....who else made it? What ever happened to Madonna Toney and Ada Brinsko....weren't they on the list of who was attending the party?

We just got finished looking at all of the snapfish pics. We really missed a great time. Todd worked all weekend! PLEASE let us know when there is another get together. We are truly sad that we missed this. It would have been great to meet all of you. Thanks for this forum, as it gave Todd a chance to catch up even though we could not go to anything. He is going to continue trying to get in touch with Michelle(Miller) and we'll get her info to the right person. Hopefully next time we can participate in the events. Thanks again. Nicole

I think it was worth the trip, Covington has changed so much in 20 years. Nothing looked familiar to me, thanks to Tiffany for leading the way and to her and Jackie for "escorting" me to the party. Being jet-lagged and driving in the dark are not a good combination for finding your way around.

It would've been nice if it could've lasted a couple more days to see everyone under normal conditions. Everyone was so charged up at the party to "meet and greet" it hardly seeemed like anyone had a second to just enjoy one's company and get re-aquainted. I know I was a wall flower most of the evening...being the person not drinking at a party, you know how that goes, things just aren't as funny. It was amusing watching everyone else cut up though.

The trip back wasn't too bad considering...fortunately I only had one beer at the party and didn't have to deal with being hungover. I'm glad I made the trip, but I was happy to get back home to Germany.

Jan - my kids are ready to fly back to England....they are whooped from all the family visiting and playing with all their cousins.....me, on the other hand, would like to find a house in Cov/Mande and stay forever! Home never felt so much like home to me as it did this time around.....glad I can at least go back....if we make it your part of Germany we will look you up.....and you do the same if you come to the UK....

You'd better be. It was great to see you Sunday.

Maybe some enterprising soul will attempt a 5-year. Can't miss a 25th anniversary, can we?

Hmmmm, I may not be that "enterprising soul" but I would definetly help!

Since we have a great forum going, and we've got "5 years", maybe others can be convinced to come the next time around. I saw Maarten on Halloween and he said he would come in in 5 years...... hee hee
You ready to do it again? lol

Ask me in a couple of years; maybe I'll be rested and crazy enough to do it again.
