My last twenty trips around the sun have been quite entertaining.

Attempted college with Shane, Andrea and Trish at USL, (Ohh Laa Laa, now) joined the navy, lost my hair, took the subway to work, had an adventure, spent 73 days under water at one time, drank many beers in Europe (twice), watched the Soviet Union fall, went to Amsterdam (didn't see Maarten), left the navy, regained my hair, went back to college(SLU), had a very bad year, meet a wonderful gal named Sarah, got a degree in chemistry, married a wonderful gal named Sarah in England, drank many more beers in Europe, worked for a couple of chemical manufacturers, got a wonderful gal named Sarah pregnent, had a boy named Colin, moved to England, lost my hair again, bought a restaurant, drank even more beer in Europe, sold the restaurant, moved to a small village in Dorset, attemted to buy a shop in Dorset, fell through, found job making (legal) drugs (API's) for various drug manufacturers, tended to Colin after he broke his femur, told a wonderful gal named Sarah I loved her, drank many beers in Europe and booked tickets to my High School twenty'th reunion.

See you guys there......

That only took you 3 months to reply to my post!!! LOL

Good to hear all about you in the last 20 years. :) You need to post photos of you, Colin and your wonderful wife. Is everyone coming with you to the reunion? How old is Colin?

Definitely might take you up on that Maarten, Easy Jet flights are very cheap, and have longing to return to Amsterdam and Holland. I had a great time when I was there in 1992.

Looking forward to catching up with you next month. Are you bringing your family?

Anytime. Easy Jet rules when you book in advance.

Unfortunately I can't bring my family. The kids have to go to school and 4 * 700 Euro is a bit too much...

Where did you end up after Orlando, Jerry? Were you going to Nuke School there, or ET school? Sounds like you were a bubble-head, boomer or fast attack? I got kicked out of Power School for coming home one weekend. Didn't miss any time or anything, but it was out of the 500 mile liberty limit, so off to the fleet I went. Spent some time on the USS Sellers (DDG-11) and after she was taken out of service, I went on the USS Ortolan (ASR-22) (both out of Charleston). Did a Med Cruise on the Sellers, and ended up going on a mini-WestPac on the USS Pigeon (ASR-21) for her first cruise out of almost three years in dry dock. Came back to the Ortolan, and was at my EAOS in December of '90, when Desert Shield was going on. They tried to get me to reup, and I requested a combat ship in the Gulf, but there were no billets for an Engineman, so they gave me a few other options, least appealing was recruiting duty in New Orleans. So the Navy and I parted ways.

Bubble head......Fast Attack Tough if you remember the lingo. When I met up with you in Orlando, I think I was in Nuclear Power School. I had just finished Electical A-Field (NFAS). I came home a few times but never got caught. I then went to Saratoga Springs, New York and did six months time at a nuclear prototype. Then I made my way to Chas. S.C., for 3.5 years of submarine duty on the USS Ray out of theCharleston Naval Station. I've always said (prior to metting Sarah) that joining the navy was the second best thing I ever did, getting out was the best.

I did a Med Run and a Northern Run while serving my time. The Northern Run came during the fall of the USSR so it was quite interesting. We were in northernmost Norway watching the news of the russian coup. Scary times.....

Hell, we had to be in Charleston at the same time. I got there in...errrr...in '88 or '89....I think. On the Ortolan, we were usually moored down on Pier Mike (Didn't spend too much time in Charleston on the Sellers). Had a place out in Goose Creek with a couple of my shipmates. Met and got married to a woman from Scotland (you have to have been to Holy Loch), but t'was not ment to be.

If you need to get your fix in, come down to my house.

Safe trip. Let me know when you get settled.
