I had a crush on Coach Bode. I don't recall having a crush on anyone in our class...sorry guys...you were more like brothers to me I guess.

We were always giving Mr. Marse (Mickey!) a hard time. I got suspended two weeks right before graduation for getting drunk in NO on a Spanish club field trip. A couple of us stayed behind at a restaurant drinking, and we actually missed the bus to take us back to Covington. Mr. Marse had to drive over to the quarter and pick us up. I spent graduation day thanking all the teachers for not failing me, because I couldn't make up the work, and I think I even missed some finals. Damn, that was funny.
The photographic evidence. Dan and Phil already look like they're planning something.

Dude, by the time that pic was taken, I'll guarantee we were already lit. That is hilarious though. I've never seen photo evidence of that day before.

Julie Mathies wrote:Phil, you may have been one of the ditch crew, and considered yourself a head, but I remember Phil, the Drum Major at WPJH. I distinctly remember having a crush on you and checking you out from the sidelines when I was a cheerleader. Guess after 20 years we can own up to those secret crushes!! Bet you never knew.......
(I totally missed this post, just now realized I never responded to it so.....)

Aw, shucks.

I bet I can find a pic of me in my drum major attire. I'll scan one and post it. And lemme tell you, nothing makes you feel quite as manly as one of those drum major outfits. my wife never lets me forget that I was once in the band.

Go Phil....you were right about those drum major uniforms....must have been the hat!!

Angie, too funny!! I remember Mr. Sanders saying that. You know, he never would let the dance team march in front of the band....they had to march in the back. The flag team was always first.
